A Great Couple’s and App Compatible Clit Air Pulse Toy

The We-Vibe Melt 2 has a shape well-suited for use during sex (and rightly marketed as such) with its head/nozzle on the very end of its handle shaped body. It does have to be placed a bit more precisely than regular vibrators during sex, but it wasn’t hard for my wife to keep it in place except for during very vigorous thrusting. It has a wide range of intensities from fairly gentle to very powerful (and potentially overstimulating for most, my wife prefers the highest only when she wants to be overstimulated) plus several preset patterns (and customizable through the app). The air pulse sensation from it is a deeper thumpy kind of sensation, if unfamiliar with air pulse toys best analogy for it would be rumbly vibrators. It can also be used just as well for solo play. During sex we tend to use the on-toy controls, but during solo use she also enjoys playing around with the customizability through app control. The Melt is one of the only air pulse toys that has app control so that is a big plus. Overall, it’s a solid choice for those with clits (or have partners with one) for use as a couple and/or solo!
Pros: Wide air pulse intensity ranges from gentle to very powerful!
Shape is very helpful for use during sex, to easily fit between our bodies.
Tactile differences between buttons for easier selection.
App compatibility for a lot more customizability in patterns, intensity, and the option for long distance partner control.
Neutral: Deep/thumpy air pulse analogous to rumbly vibrators.
Pastel color options (purple or sage green) look nice in our opinion, but color preferences can be highly personal.
Cons: Some cosmetic imperfections on the silicone coating.
Verdict: Highly recommended! Great air pulses, intensity range, shape, and app compatibility.
Dimensions: Melt 2 body measured at 5.3” length x 1.8” height x 1.6” width
Nozzle/head is 0.7” length x 0.45” width x 0.84” depth (length of cavity decreases as it tapers down the depth, see picture)
Battery: Up to 2hr runtime
Up to 1.5hr charge time
Modes: 12 intensity levels and 6 patterns (plus the first ‘constant’ mode), separately selectable through toy buttons (+ or - for intensity, < or > for changing pattern, and the recessed ~ button for smart silence)
We-Vibe app connectivity for remote/distance control and additional/custom patterns
Material: Silicone encased body (purple or sage green), firm body with nozzle/head having some flexibility in the first ~0.15” depth
IPX7 waterproof (submersible up to 3.3 feet depth for 30 minutes – could be longer at less depth = less water pressure)
2-year manufacturer warranty (plus Lovehoney’s 100 day pleasure guarantee/1 year warranty if getting the toy through them, overlaps with manufacturer for first year)
We first tried out the We-Vibe Melt 2 with me using it on my wife for foreplay. After playing with her for a bit myself and once she was wet, I started exploring the different intensities and patterns of the Melt on her. Seeing how she reacted with squirms and sounds of approval, to gauge which she was enjoying the most. And always a great tease changing up the modes on her with a new toy! She let me know the constant pulsing mode was her preference for now, so I kept it on that at a low-mid intensity (didn’t want her to finish quite yet!). Then since the Melt is shaped for easier use as a couple during sex we put that to the test. Handing the Melt over for her to hold on to, I got into position with her in missionary and started thrusting in her. She was able to hold it in place well (does require a little more focus to hold in the right spot compared to regular vibrators), except when I was thrusting too vigorously. From her noises and quivers, I could tell she was thoroughly enjoying the dual stimulation with the Melt on her clit and penetration! Once she was ready to finish all she had to do was crank up the Melt intensity a bit and that quickly brought her to orgasm (and then some!).
When she is wet enough the Melt makes a good enough seal for the air pulses to transfer, but a thin coating of lube around the rim of the head/nozzle helps it seal when that’s not enough. When using it solo depending on her mood, she likes the periodic patterns for edging as they don’t easily push her over the edge then switching to constant pulsing when she wants to finish, or for quick ‘rubbing one out’ keeping it at constant pulsing of mid-high intensity. The highest intensities she reserves for when she wants some overstimulation.
During sex, she prefers the constant pulsing pattern as the periodic patterns she find a bit distracting. Low-mid intensity for the most part, then when she’s ready to finish (or if I’ve already finished and while I stay inside her) she increases it to mid-high intensity, and it brings her to orgasm(s) quickly and efficiently if that can be said!
Over the years I’ve come to realize premium aspects often show up in a lot of little ways with higher end toys and the We-Vibe Melt 2 is no different. It has buttons for separate controls and they have tactile differences. The + and - button for controlling intensity are round raised buttons, the < and > buttons for changing pattern are also raised in the shape of < and >, and the We-Vibe/smart silence button is round and recessed. These details make it much easier to know what button you’re pressing when the toy is in use. Compared to many other toys having to look to see which of the buttons you’re pressing, or toys with a single button to cycle through in one direction constant low, medium, high intensity then each pattern of varying intensity. With the Melt, holding down the + or – button also continually increases or decreases the intensity in that direction (rather than having to press it several times to get to max intensity or decrease to low).
Holding the + button powers on the Melt, and holding down the - button turns it off (after reaching lowest intensity). When powering off and back on, it will start from the default ‘constant’ pulse mode which my wife prefers. As when she gets close to finishing she wants the constant mode and it can be easier than cycling through all the modes when not using it with the app.
So far the battery has been impressive and the charge it retains over time. After a full charge and a session or two, then not being in use for a couple weeks (life got in the way…) it was still at ~90% charge! The Melt is charged via a magnetic to USB cable, and a detail that sets it apart here is the magnetic connection is strong (can even hold it up) so don’t have to worry about it disconnecting from a slight bump or settling like we have to with some weaker magnetic charger connections on some of our other toys.
The shape of the Melt is another one of its big strengths, as I’ve talked about a little bit. With the head on the very end and the more slender, low profile, the We-Vibe Melt 2 has one of the best (if not the best) shapes for use during partnered sex or penetration compared to most clitoral suction/air pulse toys.
Pairing the Melt 2 with the We-Vibe app was very easy. It can be paired by scanning the barcode on the Melt packaging, or directly through Bluetooth by holding down the recessed We-Vibe button (~) on the Melt until it vibrates twice, selecting connect through the phone in the We-Vibe app, then the Melt vibrates three times to confirm connection.
In the app the pattern and intensity can be controlled and changed in a variety of ways such as:
A single pattern (from premade options or make your own) and more precisely control the intensity with a slider bar from 0-100
Screen touch mode (intensity/frequency through dragging finger across phone screen)
Controlled by ambient sound through the phone mic (useful for syncing it to music you’re playing on speakers! Or sound from any kind of videos…)
Beat mode (pulsing to downloaded songs from phone, doesn’t connect to other apps like Spotify etc.)
Auto mode (randomized patterns within a selected intensity range of soft, intermediate, or intense)
Playlist (select combination and order of patterns and play through that order once or loop on repeat)
The app also has some setting options for the toy:
It shows the battery level (very useful as many toys you’ll have no idea how much charge is left, and nothing is more disappointing than a toy being almost dead and running out of charge mid-session)
Sleep mode settings (choose to keep the toy on standby/connected to the app for 15 minutes to 4 hours with no interaction)
Smart silence on or off (toy is only on when in contact with skin, also toggled with the ~ on the toy)
Maximum intensity settings (if 100% intensity is too strong, this limits the max intensity through the app modes, also giving more precise control within a lower intensity range)
The local connection from Melt to phone Bluetooth has worked very well for us so far, no connection issues or drops. We are lucky in a sense to not have had to use over distance, but that’s also an option through the We-Vibe app (phone to phone to toy connection) to have a partner control the intensity and settings while using it.
The Melt 2 comes in a nicely laid out We-Vibe box displaying an image of the product on the front with the back showing some details of the product and usage tips with hygiene seal tape on the edges. Inside the box lid are app connection instructions and the other side is the Melt 2 in an insert. We got one in the sage green color and the color is nice and bright! After taking out the Melt 2, below the insert is a We-Vibe branded fabric storage bag, user manual, and charging cord.
In addition to the pleasant color, the Melt also has a slender handle-like shape. The body is encased in a smooth silicone with raised intensity and pattern selection buttons, recessed We-Vibe/smart silence button, the unique We-Vibe magnetic charging port shape and their logo embossed in the upper middle of the body. Overall a very premium looking and feeling product, except there were some cosmetic imperfections. In a few spots on the silicone body there are some irregular indents (separate from the more regular circle indents near the seams of the silicone which are just from the manufacturing process and not imperfections). Not a big deal and doesn’t affect the function at all but just subtracts from the premium feel/look a little bit. Might be a bit of a nitpick as they aren’t really noticeable during use or when glancing at the Melt, only when looking at it closely.
